Announcing Implementation of One Source Medical Provider Network
In our effort to reduce workers’ compensation costs, CRMBC is pleased to announce its plans to provide CRMBC members a customized Medical Provider Network (MPN), commencing December 10, 2010. California law specifically allows for injured workers to treat for industrial injuries within an employer controlled MPN. Proper implementation of the MPN will improve our existing industrial health care networks through the selection of appropriate doctors and will allow us to retain medical control throughout the life of the claim (not just the first 30 days).
Used effectively, a strong MPN can reduce overall claim costs – including medical treatment expense, indemnity payments, utilization and bill review fees and med/legal expense. Proper use of an MPN can shorten the lifespan of most claims and can possibly deter the filing of frivolous claims.
What is your role and responsibility as the Employer?
Prior to December 10, print out and insert the attached “Employee Notice of MPN Implementation” into the paystub/paycheck of all current employees and issue to any new hires (include this notice in your employee new hire packet). You may put this notice on your company letterhead if desired.
Update your workers’ compensation (DWC 7) “Poster” (Notice to Employees—Injuries Caused By Work) by writing in the following information under the Medical Provider Networks section:
MPN’s toll free number: 800-214-8618 MPN website: www.one-source-medical.com
MPN Effective Date: December 10, 2010
MPN’s address: 3444 Kearny Villa Road, Suite 405, San Diego, CA 92123
Post the attached “Complete Employee Guide to MPN” next to the workers’ compensation “Poster” at each location and, at the time of injury- give the injured employee a copy.
