Meet CRMBC’s Underwriting Team

Our underwriting team ensures the financial stability and success of our self-insured group. CRMBC’s underwriting services help members maintain control over their workers’ compensation costs by focusing on thorough risk assessment and fair premium setting. Underwriting services are delivered by our Administrator, The PATH Alliance, with strategic guidance from Scott Gaffner, Chief Underwriting Officer, and operational oversight from Zac Laval, Vice President of Operations.

Here’s what sets our underwriting approach apart:

Comprehensive Risk
Assessment

Our underwriting team evaluates each member’s risk profile, considering current operations and historical data. This ensures that premiums are set accurately, reflecting the true risk and helping members avoid unnecessary costs.

Tailored Underwriting
Approach

We understand that each business is unique. Our underwriters take the time to understand each member's needs and challenges, providing customized solutions that align with their operational realities and financial goals.

Commitment to
Long-Term Success

Our underwriting philosophy is centered on sustainability and long-term success. We focus on the Total Cost of Insurance rather than competing on upfront prices, ensuring that our members benefit from stable and predictable costs over time.

CRMBC’s Underwriting Services Include

Detailed Risk Evaluations

Our team conducts in-depth analyses of each member’s risk factors, including operational practices, employee safety records, and industry-specific challenges.
Unlike traditional carriers, we use a comprehensive risk assessment approach that considers multiple factors beyond ex-modifications.

Customized Premium Setting

We ensure that premiums are set fairly, reflecting each member’s actual risk and promoting financial stability within the group.
Our approach prioritizes long-term cost management, helping members avoid the pitfalls of market fluctuations.

Proactive Risk Management

We regularly review and adjust our underwriting practices to respond to changes in market and member operations.
Our underwriters work closely with other CRMBC departments to ensure a cohesive and effective approach to risk management.

Member Support and Communication

Our team maintains regular contact with members, providing updates and support to help them effectively manage their workers’ compensation costs.
We offer resources and guidance to help members understand their risk profiles and make informed decisions about their coverage.
